The mayor of Ukraine’s capital Vitaliy Klitschko

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko was tested positive for coronavirus. He announced on the infection on his Telegram channel.

Klitschko added that during hospital checks, he constantly visited the infectious diseases boxes, in which doctors treated those infected with the coronavirus.

"The coronavirus crept up at the most embarrassing moment. Today I received a positive test result. I tried to be careful. Given the specifics of my work, I regularly did tests. Todays result, unfortunately, is disappointing. I feel good," wrote Vitali Klitschko.

He said that due to the infection, he went into self-isolation and would work at home.

In Ukraine, the general number of Covid-infected people exceeded 337,000. Over the last 24 hours, medics confirmed new 7,014 cases. The National Security and Defense Council reported that on October 24.

The number of lethal cases observed since the beginning of pandemic made 6,289 people (+125 per 24 hours); 139,755 recovered, as repeated lab tests did not reveal the virus in their bodies. The number of active cases of Covid-19 in Ukraine makes 191,366.

As we reported earlier, the list of quarantine zones in Ukraine has been refreshed. Kyiv remained in the orange zone. The new zoning will become active since October 26.
