On June 30, protesters approached the building of Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine so as to claim their discontent with the appointment of Serhiy Shkarlet as Acting Education Minister. Reporter Andriy Pavlovsky posted this on his Telegram channel.
According to the reporter, Inna Sovsun, the MP from the Holos party was among the speakers. She claimed she submitted a draft bill that forbids officials to be appointed for state service and in the government if their thesis works contain signs of plagiarism.
The newly assigned official, Serhiy Shkarlet is charged with plagiarisms in his thesis works. His opponents also claim he continues the path of Dmytro Tabachnyk, the Education Minister during the rule of President Viktor Yanukovych. Back then, the education reform in Ukraine failed.
Serhiy Shkarlet is a doctor of economics, professor, honored worker of science and technology. He manages the Chernihiv National University of Technology since 2010.
In 2010, Shkarlet also ran to the Chernihiv regional council, as a candidate from the Party of Regions.
