Shevchenkivsky district court of Kyiv started to look into criminal proceeding in the case of former MP Oleg Tsaryov. The official, the ex-member of Party of Regions (currently disbanded, - 112 International) is charged in absentia.
Tsaryov never showed up at the court, although the authorty informed him of the date and time of the court session. His lawyer said she couldn’t contact Tsaryov. The judge decided to consider the case in absence of the defendant.
The former MP’s lawyer said he could be in the occupied Crimea now.
Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office charges Oleg Tsaryov with calls to separatism and an attempt to forcefully overthrow the government. In April and May 2014, he joined the pro-Russian rallies in eastern Ukraine and Crimea and delivered pro-Russian speeches while serving as the member of the Ukrainian parliament.
Currently, Tsaryov is on the wanted list of Ukraine’s law enforcement agencies.
