The Chairman of the Political Council of the Opposition Platform - For Life and MP Viktor Medvedchuk filed a second lawsuit to the ECHR regarding gross violation of the right to defense, the right to a fair trial and personal freedom. MP from the Opposition Platform – For Life Renat Kuzmin published the relevant document on his Facebook page.

"Medvedchuk filed a second lawsuit against Ukraine to the ECHR. As you know, the European Court initiated proceedings on the first one, and could be considered as a priority in the near future. This time we are talking about a gross violation of the right to defense, the right to a fair trial and personal freedom. It seems that soon the Ukrainian authorities themselves will need good lawyers, "he wrote.

Earlier, the experts noted that the decision of the ECHR in Medvedchuk's case may become a reason for the impeachment of the president and the resignation of the prosecutor general.

In early August, the European Court of Human Rights opened proceedings at the motion of lawyers in the case of the Chairman of the Political Council of the Opposition Platform - For Life and MP Viktor Medvedchuk.

Earlier, Medvedchuk filed to the ECHR in June. He insists that criminal case against him is politically motivated and the authorities violate his right to a fair trial and personal safety.

on February 20, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council on sanctions against Viktor Medvedchuk.

On May 13, the Pechersk district court put the Chairman of the Political Council of the Opposition - For Life Medvedchuk under house arrest.

On May 21, the Kyiv Court of Appeal upheld the round-the-clock house arrest for the MP.

On July 9, the court extended the house arrest of Viktor Medvedchuk until September 7. An appeal was filed by the defense. However, on July 30, the Kyiv Court of Appeal rejected it, despite the defeat of all the arguments of the prosecution.
