President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin is ready to meet Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky. However, it is necessary to change the policy and strategic line of the interlocutor for it as RIA News reported citing Putin’s Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov.
According to him, there is nothing impossible in the international relations but Kremlin has “a lot of question marks for the understanding of approaches of the Ukrainian vis-à-vis to the solution of current problems”.
Besides, Peskov stated that, particularly, the issue is about direct contact with the representatives of the self-proclaimed republics”.
“President Putin is filled with pragmatism in his approach to the international affairs, moreover, to such important track as our relations with Ukraine. But meeting for a meeting, possibly, is needed by no one. The meeting is needed for the results, particularly, the implementation of Minsk Agreements and solution,” Peskov said.
He assured that Putin does not reject any contacts a priori.
“He is absolutely ready for the contacts. He just says that, of course, we need to understand the policy of our interlocutors, their strategic line; to figure out the conceptual approaches as particular statements took place, which were contradictive,” Peskov said.
Earlier, Head of the Office of President Andriy Bohdan said Ukraine would be using international mediators for talks with Russia.
As we reported, Vladimir Putin said that the situation concerning the imprisoned Ukrainian sailors is in no way connected with the return of the Russian delegation to PACE.
