The leader of the non-recognized Kosovo Hashim Thaçi is ready to sacrifice a part of the territory for a final agreement with Belgrade, as he said during his visit to Washington, as Gazeta express reported.
“If slight border correction is the price for reaching a final peace agreement, this would be acceptable”, Thaçi said.
At the same time, he noted that most important objects in the north are the northern part of Mitrovica, Gazivode Lake with a power plant and Trepca mining complex are not negotiable.
Earlier, it was reported that Serbia and Kosovo were considering a possibility of a peace agreement and boundary changes.
Kosovo declared independence from Serbia in 2008. As of early 2018, 111 UN member states recognized Kosovo’s status. Serbia does not recognize the status of the republic. China and Russia block Kosovo’s membership in the UN.
