First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Kornienko has resigned as chairman of the Servant of the People political party, Servant of the people speaker Yulia Paliychuk reported on Telegram.
"Oleksandr Kornienko has decided to resign as chairman of the Servant of the People political party. This is due to his desire to focus more deeply on reforming the work of parliament as First Vice Speaker," Paliychuk wrote.
A party congress is scheduled for November, at which the leadership will rotate.
Earlier, Kornienko hinted that he did not want to go anywhere. Stressing that "the law has no prohibitions in this regard, it is a political position."
As it was reported earlier, Head of the Servant of the People faction Oleksandr Kornienko has become the new Vice Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on October 19.
Oleksandr Kornienko is a member of the team of Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky since November 2018. He coordinated the volunteer project of the observers from the ZeTeam. He organized the work on the staff of the election commissions.
He was head of the election campaign headquarters of the Servant of the People party, potential MP from the Servant of the People party at the parliamentary elections in 2019.
He is being the First Deputy Head of the Servant of the People faction, chairman of the party – since July 10, 2019.
Oleksandr Kornienko is a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on the organization of state power, local governance, regional development, and urban planning, chair of the subcommittee on the organization of state power, state service, and service at the bodies of local self-governance, state symbols, and awards.
