Pavlo Klimkin, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine stands for the creation of the pre-announcement system for citizens of Russia when they want to visit Ukraine. He claimed this during the airing of 1+1 channel. Interfax-Ukraine reported this.
‘The visas really become outmoded, they passed. First of all, we are used to the biometric passports and we should come over to the fact that people travel only with the biometric passports. The second moment, which is important for me. You travel to many countries and then write on the internet that you begin the travel in 5 days. The Russian citizens should do the same when they come to Ukraine. It is necessary to create the proper platform and control the entry; it should not be absolutely uncontrolled’, the minister said.
According to him, when the decision to create it is made, it will take a few months to create such platform and its testing.
Klimkin emphasized that the most important part of this is the control on the borders.
The minister noted that they could implement visa regime for Russians long ago, however the issue of Crimea citizens occurs. The occupation authorities may force them to make the visa to their own country.
Also, the citizens of Ukraine live on the territory of Russian and the Russian authorities may force them to change the citizenship in the case of implementing visa-free regime.
‘Our goal should be simple: to close the border in such way that it would not be a political call and not harm the Ukrainians’, Klimkin said.
Earlier, Andriy Parubiy, the chairman of the Ukrainian Government claimed that the Verkhovna Rada can pass the bill to implement the visa regime with Russia.
The issue of visa regime with Russia is under consideration not for the first time. At the moment the topic is connected with the beginning of the visa-free regime for the Ukrainians that started on June 11.
Earlier, Pavlo Klimkin claimed that the ministry is ready to implement visa regime with Russia if such decision will be made.
