Kim Yo-jong, the influential sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un threatened South Korea with a preventive strike, as its troops continue get ready for the joint military drills with the U.S.
According to Associated Press, the statement was made after the report of South Korean media; the allied forces of Koreans and Americans begin four days-long preparations to conduct the computer-simulated drills. The exercises are slated for August 16-26.
Kim Yo-jong described these maneuvers as "rehearsal of intervention". She called the respective decision "an act of obnixious behavior", which will make the allies face a "more serious threat to security". The North Korean leader's sister also blamed Joe Biden's administration with hypocrisy, as the White House offered Pyongyang to restore the negotiations regarding the nuclear arms.
