The district court of Kharkiv today considered a petition to apply a preventive measure for the director of the nursing home Olga Kravchenko, who is suspected of violating fire safety requirements, which caused a fire and the death of 15 people in a house for the elderly. Kravchenko was taken into custody for two months. It is reported by Suspilne Kharkiv.
The owner of the burned building, in which a house for the elderly was equipped, 67-year-old Slavik Hakobyan was also taken into custody. This was stated by the press secretary of the Kharkiv region prosecutor's office, UNN reports.
The owner of the building was taken into custody for 60 days without the right to bail.
The district court of Kharkiv adopted a preventive measure for the fourth suspect - the administrator of a nursing house for the elderly. 34-year-old Igor Mironchuk was taken into custody.
Mironchuk was taken into custody for a period of two months without the right to be released on bail. At the same time, the man does not consider himself an administrator, he calls himself a volunteer.
So the court chose a preventive measure for all suspects in violation of fire safety rules in the nursing home.
On January 21, the two-story building in Kharkiv rebuilt into the house for elderly people caught on fire.
Department of Social Protection of the Population of Kharkiv Regional State Administration of Kharkiv Region said that there were no registered institutions for the elderly at the address where the fire broke out.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to urgently create a commission to find out the causes of the fire in a nursing home. At the same time, the Prosecutor General's Office reported preliminarily that the fire in the nursing home occurred due to careless handling of electric heaters.
