Kharkiv city council has rebuked the information about city mayor Hennadiy Kernes staying in coma. This is mentioned on the city hall's website.
"The information spread by certain publics about Kharkiv city mayor Hennadiy Kernes allegedly being in a coma is untruthful... Kernes is actually hospitalized, but at that, the mayor completely controls situation in the city", reads the message.
Yuriy Sydorenko, the director of Department for Information and Public Relations of Kharkiv city hall also added that Kernes was hospitalized, and the information about "coma" is spread by those who work for his political opponents.
Besides, the agency's source in medical circles of Kharkiv confirmed that Kernes was at a hospital, and plugged to the arificial ventilator of lungs.
Earlier, the President's Office claimed the politician was sick with Covid-19.
Last time the mayor appeared on public was on August 23, when Kharkiv residents celebrated the City Day. In the first days of September, doctors claimed he got sick with Covid-19.
On August 23, we reported that leader of Batkivshchyna party Yulia Tymoshenko got sick with Covid-19. Her condition was considered tough. On September 11, the politician's press secretary overcame the disease, but she was still recovering from pneumonia.
