MPs of Kherson city council decided to rename Lyuteranska street after Kateryna Handziuk. The local media reported that on Friday.
38 MPs supported the respective decision, based on the offer by their colleague Yevhen Matkovsky.
There's a regional branch office of the National Police on this particular street in Kherson.
Kateryna Handziuk was known for her activity in fighting corruption in the local government in Kherson. On November 4, it became known that she deceased at age of 34. She was doused with sulphuric acid in July 2018. According to preliminary information, her death was caused by blood clot's detachment, multiple organ failure and chemical burns.
In February, the investigation into Handziuk's death led to a possible organizer of the murder. The suspect is Vladyslav Manger, the head of Kherson regional council. On February 11, Manger was served with charge papers in Handziuk’s murder. In his turn, Manger said that he would not escape from the country due to suspicion of organizing the murder of Handziuk.
The court ruled to arrest Manger until March 3 with the possibility of bail. However, later lawyer Dmitry Ilchenko has posted a bail for his client. On February 19, Vladyslav Manger started to wear the digital bracelet.
