Creating safety zones and taking certain localities in the 'grey area' of Donbas under control are the most important achievements of the Joint Forces Operation over the previous year. Serhiy Nayev, the Joint Forces Operation Commander said this in his interview with Golos Ukrainy newspaper.
Answering the question about the most notable things that happened over the year of his management in the Operation, Nayev said the following: 'Speaking of the success, it is, of course, the creation of safety zones in the Joint Forces Operation area and taking a number of inhabited localities under control'. According to him, these localities are in the area between the Ukrainian forces and the Russian occupants. 'This strengthened the positions of the Joint Forces and the safety zones themselves', Nayev said.
He also mentioned the reformed system of subordination in the structure of Ukraine's national security.
'It's a clear vertical [structure] that allows us to manage troops and solve a wide variety of tasks more effectively', the Joint Forces Operation Commander said.
The official admitted that some of the damaged and ruined infrastructure in Donetsk and Luhansk regions was restored; the maintenance and emergency crews managed to fix a number of vital infrastructure objects in the area. Besides, the Ukrainian government came up with the initiative of strategic humanitarian assistance for the military and civilian establishments in the war-affected zones. In 2019, the volunteers brought medical supplies to the amount of USD 75,000', Nayev concluded.
