Japan to pass 11 mln doses of vaccine to 15 countries

The Japanese government decided to pass 11 million doses of vaccine from coronavirus to 15 countries. 

According to NHK, the drug is developed by AstraZeneca company and produced in Japan. It will be distributed via the COVAX mechanism. The vaccine will go to Cambodia, Timor-Leste, Laos, the Maldives, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Fiji, Kiribati, Papua-New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Vanuatu and Iran.

Tokyo also states the plans to vaccinate the Japanese citizens who live abroad and plan to return to their homeland for some time.

The campaign will start on August 1 and will run through early January 2022.

The Summer Olympic Games will take place in Japan from July 23 till August 8. The event was supposed to occur last summer but it was suspended due to the pandemic of coronavirus. Recently, Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga announced the state of emergency in Tokyo, as the morbidity rate in the Japanese capital has grown drastically; this is why supporters will not be allowed on the stadiums.
