The naval forces of the United States, Japan, and South Korea participate in the joint drills, where they improve their skills in the tracking of North Korean missiles. AFP reported that, referring to the South Korean defense ministry.   

Two American ships, one Korean and one Japanese vessel that joined the exercise are known to employ the Aegis anti-missile defense system. They are to imitate detection and tracking of any potential rocket launch from North Korea, exchanging the relevant data.
