Western countries use the topic of problems with reforms in Ukraine in order not to admit their unwillingness to talk about its membership. This was stated by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba during the YES Brainstorming forum.
"I want to be understood correctly - we are supporters of reforms and we are introducing reforms. However, I am frankly tired of being kept on the hook for reforms in order not to recognize the truth - it is not Ukraine that is not ready for the path to the EU, but the EU is not ready to accept Ukraine, "the minister said.
He added that the current relationship between Ukraine and the EU can be described as "strategic uncertainty."
“We ask what we should do for the sake of EU membership, but they do not give us an answer and only say - work further,” he said.
According to the head of the Foreign Ministry, the EU is not politically ready to talk about Ukraine's membership, and this does not depend on reforms.
Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid said at the YES forum that Ukraine still has many years of work ahead of it to approach membership in the European Union.
