Prime Minister of Italy Giuseppe Conte claimed that he stands for the reconsideration of the system of the European sanctions against Russia as ANSA reported.
'We will become the supporters of the openness toward Russia that strengthened its international role in the solution of the different geo-political crises during the last years. We will become the initiators of the reconsideration of the sanctions' system, beginning with those that oppress civil society of Russia', Conte said.
At the same time, Conte confirmed the intentions of Italy to remain the ally of the US and keep the NATO membership.
'We intend to confirm the firm belonging o our country to the North-Atlantic alliance, keeping the US as the privileged ally', he said.
As we reported Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on sanctions against the U.S. and other foreign states hostile acts. This law provides Russian Government with an opportunity to impose response limits against the “hostile” states or organizations under the order of Russia’s President. In particular, it allows to suspend the cooperation in various fields; ban the import or export of certain goods.
