The issue on the holding of the debate on the entry into force in Ukraine of the ‘Law on Education’ was submitted on the table of the first day of the autumn PACE session as it is stated at the project of the order of the day of the session.
It is noted that the issue of the holding of the debates on ‘The new Ukrainian law on education: a major impediment to the teaching of national minorities' mother tongues’ was submitted on the approval of the order of the day of the first day of the autumn session of the PACE.
The final order of the day of the autumn session is not approved yet. The session will take place in Strasbourg on October 9-13.
President Petro Poroshenko will deliver a speech at the autumn session of the PACE on October 11. President Petro Poroshenko signed the law of Ukraine #2145 VII ‘On Education’ on September 25. Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Russia and Moldova stood against this law.
Particularly, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary Peter Szijjarto claimed that the government of Hungary decided to block all further decisions of the EU that aim for the rapprochement of the EU with Ukraine. However, Permanent Representative of Ukraine at the European Council Dmytro Kuleba claimed that the Hungary’s attitude will not influence the estimation of the European Council.
