President of Israel Isaac Herzog will visit Ukraine on October 5. He will take part in memorial events on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the tragedy in Babyn Yar. This was reported by the press service of the Israeli Embassy in Ukraine.
This is the first foreign visit of the newly elected President of Israel.
Reportedly, during the visit, the Herzog will speak at events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the tragedy in Babyn Yar, meet with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, address the Verkhovna Rada, and also meet with representatives of the Ukrainian Jewish community.
The Herzog's visit to Ukraine is scheduled for October 5.
Meanwhile, Pope Francis plans to visit Ukraine next year, Archbishop Mieczysław Mokrzycki announced, according to Ekai.
“I learned that the Holy Father is planning such a visit [to Ukraine] next year,” Mokrzycki said.
