Donald Trump was the mediator of the normalization of relations between the sides. He reported that Morocco agreed to establish the diplomatic relations with Jerusalem, and the U.S., in its turn, recognized the sovereignty of Morocco over Western Sahara.
“Another HISTORIC breakthrough today! Our two GREAT friends Israel and the Kingdom of Morocco have agreed to full diplomatic relations – a massive breakthrough for peace in the Middle East!,” Trump reported.
According to Jerusalem Post, Israel and Morocco plan to open the embassies closed in 2002 and exchange the ambassadors and start the direct flights.
Earlier, Israel and Sudan agreed on normalization of relations and stop of war; the talks were mediated by the U.S.
Besides, the UAE agreed to normalize relations with Israel, while Israel promised to delay the annexation of the West Bank of Jordan. The sides finally reached consensus and agreed to sing the document in the White House - after 18 months of negotiations.
