Ministers of Energy of Cyprus, Greece and Israel have signed the intergovernment deal on the construction of EastMed pipeline. Cyprus Mail reported that on January 2. Greece's Kostis Hadziakis, Cyprus's Jorgos Lakkotripis and their Israeli counterpart Yuval Steinitz put their signatures during the official procedure in Athens.
Greek Premier Kyriakos Mitsotakis, President of Cyprus Nikos Anastasiades and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu were present during the procedure, too.
The pipeline will be laid across the Mediterranean Sea, from Israeli sea shelves via Crete and mainland Greece to Italy.
EastMed is expected to satisfy 10 percent of the EU's current needs in gas, cutting its energy dependence from Russia.
