Two Russian servicemen were killed in the Syrian province of Deir ez-Zor after the shelling of an automobile column by Islamic state militants (ISIS). This was reported by Russian Defense Ministry, reports Interfax.
"The servicemen of the contract service escorting the automobile column of the Russian center of reconciliation. In the province of Deir ez-Zor, the automobile column was shelled from mortars by the terrorists of ISIS," Russian military department said.
According to the Defense Ministry, as a result of the shelling, one soldier died at once and another was seriously wounded and died in the hospital. Servicemen are awarded by state awards posthumously.
As it was reported earlier ISIS claimed responsibility for terrorist attack in Barcelona. The driver who ran over the crowd at La Rambla fled the scene and took hostages at a local restaurant; one of the attackers was detained.
