The ISIS took upon itself the responsibility for the terrorist acts that took place in Tehran earlier today. The terrorist organization’s official website, Amaq, issued a statement at 09:00 GMT claiming the responsibility for the attacks, Fars news agency reported.
As 112 International reported, two attacks took place in the Iranian capital on early June 7. During the first attack, four shooters carrying Kalashnikov assault rifles entered the building of the Parliament, killing at least five people and wounding another 25. Another incident involved several shooters and a suicide bomber who blew himself up near the holy shrine of Imam Khomeini; at least two were killed and ten more were wounded, the outlet says.
MEHR News Agency, with reference to the local doctors, reports that at least 12 people lost their lives and 42 more were hurt in the attacks.
Fars added that all assailants were eliminated in the counter-terrorist operation that lasted for several hours. The four hostages that had remained inside were released.
