Iryna Vereshchuk, the MP from Servant of the People party is going to run for the office of Kyiv mayor. The respective decision was made on the party convention, where President Volodymyr Zelensky was present, too. Press department of the President's Office.
"Iryna Vereshchuk won the primaries. She scored 87 votes. President also voted for Vereshchuk. She won", reads the message.
Vereshchuk's comrades in the party also participated in the primaries. Oleksandr Dubynsky, Mykola Tyshchenko, Dmytro Hurin and Oleksandr Kachura lost to Vereschuk.
Earlier, Zelensky claimed that he would support the candidate from Servant of the People during the local elections in autumn this year.
The local election in Ukraine is scheduled for October 25, 2020. The election will not be tanking place in the annexed Crimea and occupied part of Donbas.
