French President Francois Hollande, during his visit to Baghdad, said the Iraqi forces will release Mosul from ISIS within a few weeks. It was reported by Deutsche Welle.

Islamic State retreats, the international community must increase support for the Iraqi armed forces, Hollande said at a joint press conference with Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi. Before the meeting with the head of the Iraqi government, Hollande visited the French military, which provide support for the Iraqi army in the operation to liberate Mosul. Meanwhile, French Foreign Minister Bernard urged Russia to refrain from taking part in military operations in Syria and to respect the ceasefire.

Iraqi troops began the second phase of the offensive on Mosul on December 29.
