Iran reluctant to negotiate with Ukraine about compensation for downed UIA plane

The Iranian side is reluctant to negotiate with Ukraine about the payment of the compensations, as BBC reported citing Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Yevhen Yenin.

“Literally today (the talk took place on July 7, -, we have received message from Tehran that the Iranian side is not ready to accept the offer of Kyiv concerning the talks,” Yenin said.

According to him, the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine filed the note with the offer to start the talks about the compensation but got the refusal. Besides, he underlined that it is early to talk about particular sums of compensation because the sums are defined according to the results of the comprehensive expert examination.

As we reported before, January 8, Boeing 737 of Ukraine's International Airlines, flight PS752 with 176 passengers aboard crashed in Tehran, not far from Imam Khomeini airport.

As we reported before, Iran stated it was ready to negotiate with Ukraine to resolve issues related to the black boxes of the downed airplane PS 752. However, the talks on this issue are very difficult.
