The Iranian government turned to Interpol with the request to put Donald Trump on the wanted list and to arrest him. Tehran blames him for ordering the murder of Iranian general Qassem Soleimani in early 2020. Al Jazeera reported that.
Gholamhossein Esmaili, the Iranian judiciary spokesman claimed that Iran has been closely watching the process of prosecution and punishment of those who ordered and committed this crime. According to the official, "Iran has requested the international police organization to arrest Trump and 47 other American officials identified as playing a role in the assassination of top general Qassem Soleimani last year".
It's the second request from Iran, which asked for issuance of the international order for the arrest of Trump and dozens of U.S. officials in the Pentagon, the U.S. government, and other organizations. The first one was filed in June 2020. Then, Interpol declined Iran's request, stating that the organization's statute forbids any interference of political, military, religious or racial nature.
Soleimani was murdered in Baghdad on January 3, 2020, during the airstrike landed by the U.S. Air Force.
