International meeting concerning Syria takes place in Astana today as Foreign Ministry of Kazakhstan reports. It is the fourth round of talks since the beginning of the year.
Bilateral negotiations will be held on May 3 and 4 behind the closed doors. Plenary meeting and concluding press-conference are planned during afternoon on May 4. Delegations from the guarantor states of the truce in Syria will participate. The lead of Russian delegation is Oleksandr Lavrentiev Russian President’s envoy for Syria regulation, the lead of Turkey delegation is Sedat Onal Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey for Middle East and Africa and Iran’s representative is Hossein Jaberi Ansari Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran for African and Arabian countries.
The lead of Syrian delegation is Bashar Jaafari permanent Representative of Syria in United Nations and Mohamad Alush the head of Jeish al Islam organization represents the Syrian opposition.
Moreover, Staffan De Mistura Special Envoy of the UN General Secretary and Nauf Uasfi Tel the counselor of Foreign Minister of Jordan also will take part in the negotiations.
It is also expected that Stuart Johns Assistant Secretary of State for Middle East will take part in the meeting for the first time.
It is reported that the meeting of the military experts of the guarantor states was held behind the closed doors on May 2.
Let us remind that Donald Trump the President of the USA and Vladimir Putin the President of Russia discussed the situation in Syria, particularly cessation of fire and creation of the safe-zones for refugees during the phone call on May 2.
