Interior Minister urges Ukrainian citizens not to violate election law

In the connection with the end of the election campaign, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov issued a statement in which he urged Ukrainians not to violate election legislation. This was reported by the ministry's press service.

"I also appeal to the participants of the election process - from candidates to members of the commissions: do not spoil your life with punishment for breaking the law, it is not worth it. Respect yourself and respect the law," Avakov said.

The Minister also noted that the Interior Ministry was going to deploy enough operational groups to ensure law and order. According to him, almost 140,000 of its employees will be involved in ensuring public order during the local elections.

As we reported earlier, since the beginning of the election campaign for the upcoming local elections, 475 criminal proceedings regarding violations of the election law have been initiated in Ukraine.

"As of October 21, 475 criminal proceedings regarding the preparation and conducting of local elections were initiated, 234 of them - for direct violations of election law,” Iryna Venedyktova, Prosecutor General of Ukraine, stated.
