Ukraine's Interior Minister Arsen Avakov urged the government to send Vitold Fokin off "back to his retirement" so that the official would not represent Ukraine in the Minsk talks group again. The Minister fiercely reacted to Fokin's statement about not seeing any signs of war between Ukraine and Russia in Donbas.
Avakov posted this on Facebook.
"Fokin, thousands of our soldiers and civilians deceased in the war that isn't there, as you say. Can you tell this to families of those who died under volleys of Russian Grads (multiple missile launcher systems, - 112 International) near Savur-Mohyla and Ilovaisk?! Bastard!", Avakov wrote.
"Fokin's words he said over the last several weeks did a huge damage to the country, hurting and enraging hearts of Ukrainians. A fancy idiot cannot be disguised behind the old age. Send him off, at least back to his retirement", the Minister added.
Earlier, First Deputy Head of the Ukrainian delegation in the Trilateral Contact Group Vitold Fokin stated that he does not see the evidence of the war between Ukraine and Russia, as MP from Holos faction Roman Lozynsky reported on Facebook.
“I am not a politician and I cannot make some determination. I see no confirmation that in Donbas, the war between Russia and Ukraine takes place,” Fokin said.
The official served as the first Prime Minister of independent Ukraine in the early 1990s.
