Interior Minister Arsen Avakov and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussed issues of citizens' joint travel. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs press service.

In particular, Avakov said that thanks to the joint and consistent work between the two law enforcement agencies of the countries, it was possible to solve the problem between Ukraine and Israel regarding the border crossing. He noted that after the signing of the Declaration on the intensification of cooperation, which took place on July 11, problematic issues at the border crossing were resolved.

Avakov recalled that, according to statistics from the State Border Service, 4,500 citizens of our state refused to cross the border in 2017, 3,500 Ukrainians were not allowed in 2018. At the same time, over the past year, 220 people were unable to enter Ukraine, this year - 716 Israeli citizens were denied entry, but since July 24, there has not been a single refusal from the Ukrainian side.

“Today we have managed to ensure proper treatment of Ukrainian and Israeli citizens during border and customs control, reduce the waiting time for return flights, and in case of refusal to cross the border, provide citizens with an official document with the reason for the refusal,” Avakov emphasized.

In turn, Netanyahu noted that close bilateral cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and Israel allowed resolving the problems of refusals when crossing the border.

In addition, law enforcement agencies are actively cooperating in ensuring the safety of tourists of both countries, countering the illegal hiring and employment of citizens.
