The incident that took place in Sloviansk, Donetsk region, on March 14 is a disgrace; at least that’s how President Petro Poroshenko put it. During the Wednesday session of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, the head of the state shared his view on the issue.
‘I watched this shameful video; I watched how they (Donbas trade blockade supporters, - 112 International) hit the policemen and the National Guard fighters, how they took guns from combat veterans, knowing they would not dare to fight back because an MP was among the attackers. The police showed the degree of patience that no policemen in any country would,’ Poroshenko said.
A conflict occurred between the law enforcers involving Ukrainian MP Volodymyr Parasyuk and the trade blockade activists in Slovyansk, Eastern Ukraine, at 19:00. Seven policemen got injured and were hospitalized. Vyacheslav Abroskin, deputy head of the National Police, reported that during his briefing on March 14.
According to the official, a convoy of 13 cars with more than 35 years moved towards Slovyansk through a checkpoint. According to the police, they refused to undergo routine checks and provoked a conflict. The police asked the documents for their guns, but the blockade activists refused to provide the documents.
