Over 2017, the European Court for Human Rights got 2,558 lawsuits against Ukraine. The country’s justice ministry replied so, answering the request by 112.ua news agency.
‘According to the ECHR’s official website, since 1997, when the European Convention for Human Rights took effect for Ukraine, the number of lawsuits against Ukraine as made 87,786 (as of July 2017). The number of those filed against Ukraine in 2017 alone makes 2,558’, the document reads.
Besides, as of October 2017, the Court has at its disposal 3,700 lawsuits related to the events in the occupied Crimea and the conflict zone in Donbas. The ECHR also has to consider and announce the verdict in 5,000 ‘Ukraine versus Russia’ cases.
