The illicit migrants were found at Chornomorsk seaport during the procession of the motor ship that arrived from Turkey as the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported.

“Two illicit migrants were found among the freight of fabric in the semitrailer of Turkish registration. The foreigners-trespassers had no documents. They said they are citizens of Syria and admitted that they planned to illegally reach their relatives in Italy. The migrants said that they paid 7,000 euro at the port in Turkey for the possibility to travel locked in the semitrailer,” the message says.

The operative workers have also established that near the checkpoint, their countryman with a residence permit in Ukraine was waiting for them.

The criminal proceeding is opened; all circumstances of the illicit activity will be established. The investigative actions continue.

The Border Guard Service added that since the beginning of 2021, the border guards of the Odesa unit have exposed and stopped the illicit traveling of 15 migrants.

Earlier, Ukrainian border guards detained seven illegal migrants in the Chernihiv region, at the junction of the borders with the Russian Federation and Belarus.
