The Hungarian side denied the statement of Russia’s State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin on the joining efforts for the protection of the national minorities in Ukraine as Foreign Ministry of Ukraine reported.

The Foreign Ministry noted that it became familiar with the information on the statement of Volodin on the appeal of the National Assembly of Hungary to the State Duma with the request to join the efforts to protect the national minorities in Ukraine.

“Our embassy in Budapest appealed to the Hungarian side to check the mentioned information and got the response that, considering the fact that the National Assembly of Hungary did not assume such statements, they could neither orally nor in written form pass such information during the Hungarian-Russian talks at the level of the parliaments,” the message said.

Besides, Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry believes that Ukraine and Hungary are the state-partners, which are able to find solutions for issues, including those having the different approaches, by dialogue and consultations.

Earlier Vyacheslav Volodin accused Ukraine of nationalism and oppression of ethnic groups. Thus, the State Duma representative responded to the attempt of the Ukrainian delegation to disrupt the speech of the pro-Russian representative of Crimea at the UN forum.

As we reported, Russia has several plans or scenarios regarding Donbas; they include the referendum on the re-integration of territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, as well as the revival of 'Novorossiya' project.
