US Congress met in the Capitol building to count the Electoral College votes and confirm President-elect Joe Biden as the nation’s next leader.
Trump himself delivered a fiery speech in the hour leading up to the joint session of Congress, in which he repeated his claim that the election was rigged against him, without providing hard evidence to support the allegation.
As we reported earlier, presidential election in the U.S. took place on November 3, 2020. Biden defeated Trump, scoring 306 votes, with 270 necessary to win.
