Human right activists report at least 200 detainees in Belarus on Sunday

On Sunday, September 9, Belarusian law enforcers took in some 200 people. The protest rallies took place in all regions all over the country. Viasna human rights protection centre reported that, placing the names of the detained people on its website.

The list is being updated.

The rallies took place in Minsk, Brest, Baranovichi, Mogilev, Vitebsk, Pinsk, Braslav, and Shchuchin.

As is known, there are mass protests going on in Belarus, as citizens show their discontent over the result of the presidential election that took place on August 9. The police apprehend protesters and opposition leaders. The EU demands that President Alexander Lukashenko release the detainees and respect the right of citizens for a peaceful protest. At least five people deceased during the clashes with riot police.
