French President Francois Hollande urged the US president Donald Trump to not conduct a policy of protectionism, as this, according to him, will have economic and political consequences. Also, Hollande said that "sanctions against Russia can be lifted only when the situation in the east of Ukraine will be resolved", and after the full implementation of the Minsk agreements.
This was reported by Radio Liberty, with reference to the press release distributed by the French side as a result of a telephone conversation between the President of France and President of the United States, Donald Trump.
Hollande also stressed that democracy can be protected only when it meets basic democratic principles, including in relation to the reception of refugees.
It is reported that France and Germany have previously expressed concern over the decision of the Trump restrictions for immigration of refugees from a number of Muslim countries. At the summit of the Mediterranean countries in Lisbon Hollande said that Europe should provide an answer to allegations of Trump against Brexit and refugees.
