Donald Trump stated that he liked the leader of the North Korea, but he admitted that he is a violent dictator. He also admitted that Putin might be a “ruthless man”, but he can not state that as he does not know him, as he said in the interview for ITV, part of which was published by The Mail on Sunday.
The host asked if his (Trump’s) policy is about “trying to make a deal with the people who is perceived as enemies”.
“I want peace. Lots of people thought that if Trump becomes the President, the U.S. will joint wars. And now we are getting rid of them. We are actually exiting wars,” the American President said.
Answering the question if he can trust Kim Jong-Un, he stressed again that Barak Obama could not make a deal with North Korea and during his presidency “no nuclear testing was conducted within last nine months”.
“I get along with him great, yeah. He’s very smart, great personality, he’s funny and tough, good negotiator…,” Trump said.
When the journalist note that the leader of North Korea is a ruthless dictator, Trump said:
“Sure he is, he’s ruthless, but so are others. I mean, I could name plenty of others that we deal with that you don’t say the same thing about. I mean plenty of the people that I deal with are pretty ruthless people.”
"Is Putin one of those?"
"I can’t tell you that, I assume he probably is. But I could name others also. Look, if we can get along with Russia that’s a good thing. I don’t know him (President Putin). I met him a couple of times, I met him at the G20".
Trump is to meet with Putin on July 16 on Monday in Helsinki.
