The bill on the Security Service of Ukraine currently exists in several versions of the Security Service of Ukraine and the President’s office, as well as a specialized parliamentary committee.  Parliament may not have time to adopt the document before the end of the year.

The MP from "Servants of the people", the head of the defense committee of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Zavitnevich told about this in an Interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

“There are several options for this bill. There is a bill in the version of the Security Service and the Office of the President and there is a committee option” – he said.

According to him, as a result of the reform, the Security Service of Ukraine will get rid of the anti-corruption function.

Oleksandr Zavitnevich does not undertake to predict when exactly the Verkhovna Rada will adopt the law on the Security Service as a whole.

"I can’t say for sure. There is only a month left until the end of this year, two plenary weeks. I know that the other committees have fifteen bills that have passed the first reading. We have a priority bill on the Security Service, the deadline for which the president set the deadline - before the end of the year but I don’t know whether it will be possible to accept it. Not everything depends on us,” - Zavitnevich said.

According to him, they planned "to pass laws on the Security Service, on intelligence, on defense purchases, changes to the law on national security, but there are procedural things that slow down the speed of the Verkhovna Rada."  He cited as an example the procedure for finalizing the document for the second reading, during which a thousand amendments can be submitted, which delays the decision-making process.

As we reported, the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine referred all its cases to the State Bureau of Investigation, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, the Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police.
