Haïti president Jovenel Moïse was killed in an armed attack on his residents on early July 7. The first lady was wounded, too, Juno7 reports.

The assault occurred at about 1 a.m.; a group of people, part of which spoke Spanish, attacked the house, killing Moïse. 

Acting Prime Minister Claude Joseph stated that the situation is under control of the police and the army. He asked people to stay calm.

Jovenel Moïse was elected president of Haïti in November 2016; he assumed office in February 2017.

Recently, the Armenian military accused Azerbaijan of provoking the shootout in Verin Shorzha village, on the border between the two countries. Samvel Asatryan, Chief of the Information Department of General Staff of Armenian Armed Forces said so as cited by Armenian public TV.

"The Azerbaijani troops provoked the shooting", Asatryan said.

According to him, one Armenian and two Azerbaijani soldiers were wounded in the incident.
