Pokrovsky district court in Dnipropetrovsk region has approved the agreements with the investigation team. The agreements concern the case of the murder of Kateryna Handziuk, the Ukrainian public activist and counselor of Kherson city council.
Serhiy Torbyn, Mykyta Hrabchuk, Viktor Horbunov, Vyacheslav Vyshnevsky and Volodymyr Vasyanovych got their sentences, Hromadske reports. All were sentenced under the three articles of Criminal Code, namely 'deliberate grave bodily injury, planned and caused by the group of persons'.
Viktor Horbunov got the least, three years behind the bars; Serhiy Torbyn was sentenced to six years.
However, the convicts had the terms they already spent in detention included in the overall prison terms.
The convicts can file an appeal on the decision within the 30-days-long period.
On November 4, 2018, it became known that Kateryna Handziuk died at the age of 34. She was doused with sulphuric acid in July this year. According to preliminary information, her death was caused by blood clot's detachment.
Besides, the doctors specified the cause of death; it was due to multiple organ failure and chemical burns.
