UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres discussed the situation in Afghanistan, Libya, Syria and Ukraine at a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on September 24. This was reported in the press center of the UN head.
"The Secretary-General and the Foreign Minister discussed developments related to the wide-ranging UN-Russia cooperation. They also exchanged views on recent developments in Syria, Libya, Afghanistan and Ukraine," the world organization noted.
Neither side has yet revealed the details of the meeting.
As we reported earlier, UN Secretary-General and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met in New York, as the session of the UN General Assembly is underway.
"The Secretary-General and the President discussed recent developments in Ukraine, including the ongoing peace efforts. The Secretary-General underlined the UN’s commitment to the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine, within its internationally recognized borders," Guterres's press office reported.
