Navy vessels of Greece and Turkey collided in the Mediterranean Sea - amidst these countries' opposition.
According to Ekathimerini, Limnos and Kemal Reis ran into each other because captain of the Turkish vessel allowed a mistake. Unlike the Greek ship, the Turkish vessel took some damage.
The media reports say Limnos was involved in the joint Greek-French drills.
Nikos Dendias, Greek Foreign Minister will focus on this incident during the next session of EU Foreign Affairs Council. However, no sanctions against Turkey will follow, because this specific authority does not enjoy this kind of authority.
According to DW, the conflict between Greece and Turkey escalated rapidly, as Turkish government decided to send a research vessel to a Greek island of Kastelorizo; the ship was supposed to conduct what the Turks call a "seismic research" - in order to look into development of gas fields. In turn, the Greek government claimed that Turkey's actions were unacceptable, because the gas deposits were in the waters that belong to Greece's exclusive economic area. Armed Forces of both countries are now on high alert.
