The Governor General of Canada confirmed the Canada-Ukraine Free Trade Area Agreement by the signature after the consent of the House of Commons and Senate on June 1. Petro Poroshenko, the President of Ukraine reported this at Facebook. He added that this decision has more than symbolical significance in the light of the ratification of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement by the Dutch Senate.

‘In fact, Canada and the Netherlands simultaneously made the decisive step to form the free trade area triangle Ukraine-Canada-EU. When all the formal procedures are finished, this triangle will unite three regions and two continents on the ground of the common allegiance to the liberal values and ideas’, the president wrote.

Poroshenko also noted that these decisions proclaim the reforms’ performance in Ukraine. ‘It is the best impetus for us to strengthen the internal transformations. Also, it is the powerful signal of the changings in Ukraine for our international partners and the standing invitation for mutual cooperation serving the interests of peace, stability and safety’, Poroshenko emphasized.
