Vitold Fokin, the first Prime Minister of Ukraine (1990-1992) may become a member of the Trilateral Contact Group on Donbas. New head of the Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group Leonid Kravchuk said this, Ukraine 24 TV channel reports.
“I know that negotiations are underway with a person who is famous in Ukraine. This is Vitold Fokin. He is known in Donbas, he has been working in the mine since the age of 16. And we would like to have in this group a person who is known to Donbas," Kravchuk said.
Note that Vitold Fokin headed the government of Ukraine in September 1991, and in December of the same year, together with President Leonid Kravchuk, signed the Belovezhskaya Agreement on the liquidation of the USSR on behalf of Ukraine.
As we reported before, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky appointed Leonid Kravchuk the head of Ukrainian delegation in Minsk Trilateral Contact Group on peaceful settlement of the situation in Donbas.
