There is a danger of a third wave of the coronavirus pandemic in Germany. The country is now witnessing the beginning of a third wave trend. This was stated by the leading German virologist Christian Drosten, reports Deutsche Welle.
"In Germany, there is a 'beginning of a trend' that could lead to a third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, explains the virologist," the report said.
According to the virologist, the beginning of the third wave, which Germany is currently experiencing, is indicated by the results of modeling the situation in the country and the development of the pandemic in other countries.
At the same time, the expert does not believe that vaccination can greatly help with the current rate of incidence. Although the vaccine will reduce the mortality rate among the largest risk group - the elderly.
Drosten believes that possible weakening of the current restrictions can be predicted not earlier than the second half of the summer.
Also, the beginning of the third wave of coronavirus was announced in Poland.
