Foreign ministers come up with a joint statement, offering to take steps towards nuclear disarmament

Foreign Ministries of Germany, Sweden and Spain have released a joint statement, calling on nuclear states to cease testing the nuclear arms and move on towars the nuclear disarmament. DW cited the foreign ministers, Heiko Maas, Arancha Gonzalez Laya and Ann Linde who made this statement.

"This could include downgrading the role of nuclear weapons in strategies and doctrines, reducing the risk of conflict and an accidental nuclear weapon deployment, further reducing nuclear stockpiles and laying the foundations for a new generation of arms control agreements", reads the article by the three ministers, which was released by Rheinische Post newspaper.

The conference dedicated to nuclear arms control is about to kick off in Madrid, where the 16 member countries of the Stockholm Initiative will be standing for nuclear disarmament.
