Germany visas Russian passports issued to the citizens of occupied Ukrainian Donbas as Bild reported in the request of MP from Free Democratic Party of Germany Renate Alt.
According to the answer to the request, the German government makes no distinction between common Russian passports and those, which are issued on the order of Putin to the citizens of occupied Ukrainian Donbas.
Since April, the German authorities issue almost 100.000 visas to the owners of the Russian passports. At this moment, it is unknown how much of them were issued to the owners of the passports from occupied Donbas.
Meanwhile, according to the official statements, the government of Germany criticizes the issuance of the Russian passports in occupied Donbas.
On April 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree which facilitates the procedure of obtaining the Russian citizenship for the residents of the occupied regions of Donetsk and Luhansk (ORDLO). According to the document, the application for Russia’s citizenship, which ORDLO residents file should be considered within three months.
On June 14, it was reported that the citizens of occupied Donbas began to get the passports of the Russian Federation. These IDs were registered in the simplified order in accordance with the April order of the Russian president.
Head of the EU Delegation in Ukraine Hugues Mingarelli stated that the EU leaders will discuss the issuance of the Russian passports to the citizens of occupied Donbas soon.
