The prime ministers of the four southern states addressed the relevant letters to 13 members of Congress including senators Mitt Romney and Jim Inhofe.
“We therefore ask you to support us as we strive not to sever the bond of friendship but to strengthen it, and to secure the U.S. presence in Germany and Europe in the future,” the premiers of Bavaria, Hesse, Baden-Wuerttemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate stated in their joint statement.
As we reported earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump and his Polish counterpart Andrzej Duda announced a possible increase in the U.S. military presence in Poland during their joint press conference.
"We are going to be reducing our forces in Germany. Some will be coming home and some will be going to other places. Poland would be one of those other places," Trump said.
The head of the White House noted that the deployment “sends a very strong signal to Russia."
